Web Design and Development

While my first big official website launch happened to be covid19.colorado.gov –– racking up over 100 million pageviews among 16 million users, I actually take more pride in my approach to redesigning the state’s health department website. From basic pages to navigation, I used a data-informed approach to improve the user experience, accessibility, and design.

Here’s what all went into the redesign:

  • User research, including interviews, surveys, and focus groups

  • Google Analytics and CrazyEgg research

  • Card sort activities to refine the navigation

  • New digital design guidelines and standards

  • Project management with over 50 web editors

  • Landing page design

  • Work plans with each division to establish accountability

  • Intensive QA of over 3,000 webpages

  • Weekly migration meetings and trainings

  • Presentations to leadership to establish buy-in and ownership

Note: If you want to compare apples to apples, have a look at some of these other state websites: Department of Natural Resources, Department of Human Services, Department of Agriculture, Department of Revenue, Department of Public Safety, Department of Corrections, Department of Regulatory Agencies, Department of Health Care Policy & Financing, Department of Early Childhood, Department of Higher Education.
